Environments in which YTZP may not be suitable include long term water emersion and temperatures of 500° C (and above) in which electrical conductivity must be avoided. As with all Ceramic custom ceramic part orders, we work closely with the customer to arrive at a ceramic formulation that not only meets the spec, but also avoids such undesirable circumstances.
Zirconia comes in many different flavors. YTZP is available in variety of aesthetic appealing colors that can be polished to high luster. Depending upon the elements and additives used (Yttria, MgO, Ceria, Alumina, etc.) zirconia's technical functionality can be adjusted for its use as an oxygen sensor or in composites like ZTA (zirconia toughened alumina).

Industrial Ceramic Intriduction
Aluminium Oxide, Al2O3 is the most widely applied and cost effective technical ceramic material. It offers a combination of superior mechanical strength and electrical properties, wear resistance and corrosion resistance. The maximum working temperature is up to 1700 °C with relatively high thermal conductivity. It is also an electrically insulating material with a high electrical resistivity. The good corrosion resistance makes it insoluble in water and slightly soluble in strong acid and alkaline solution.
